Japanese Conservative Union Chairman Jay Aeba was invited to Think Tank Central hosted by New Direction in Tallinn, Estonia on September 21-23. Jay, the only speaker from East Asia, took part in a panel titled “The Global Freedom Movement” where he spoke of the need for freedom-loving conservatives to work together across national borders.
The hosting organization, New Direction, was founded by former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher. It organizes a network for academic think tanks and conservative voices throughout Europe and has considerable influence on the national politics of European nations and the European Parliament. New Direction promotes strengthening national sovereignty and defense, free markets, and limited government.
