ABOUT ACU

THE JAPANESE CONSERVATIVE UNION About the ACU

The American Conservative Union (ACU)

Founded in 1964, ACU is the nation’s oldest conservative grassroots organization and seeks
to preserve and protect the values of life, liberty, and property for every American.

The American Conservative Union (ACU) was founded in 1964 and is the largest conservative political coalition in the country. It is composed of a variety of individuals committed to fighting for individual liberty, limited government, and Constitutional government. The ACU supports candidates for public office that embody the aforementioned values.

Every year since 1974, ACU proudly hosts the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the nation’s largest gathering of conservatives. Elected officials, leading conservative voices, and thousands of activists convene in National Harbor, Maryland to deepen and broaden knowledge while equipping conservatives with skills to become more effective activists. In its 45 year history, CPAC has been honored to present prominent conservatives including Presidents of the United States, Vice Presidents, cabinet officials, Members of Congress, members of the judiciary, conservative thought leaders, and foreign officials.

The American Conservative Union Foundation, ACUF, is a 501(C)(3) educational foundation that illustrates why conservative policies work better than liberal alternatives to solve the myriad problems facing America. Since 1971, ACUF’s Congressional Ratings have become the gold standard in determining how an elected official views the role of government in an individual’s life. Each year ACUF produces scores based on the voting records of every Member of Congress and issues awards to the most conservative Members. ACUF applies the same standard State Legislators and issues scores to 8,000+ Members every year.
